Senior DevOps Engineer

Description:

The Senior DevOps Engineer will be responsible for deployment/installation, configuration, performance, tuning and maintenance including fault tolerance, clustering and stability of ROR and PHP application servers and other software products and proprietary applications.

This person will troubleshoot application issues and support the application development cycle involved with application design, deploying code and resolving any infrastructure problems. Other duties include: monitoring production environment, tuning ROR/PHP application servers to optimize performance, reinstalling all middle-tier products, participating in production problem calls, stabilizing and improving performance both in the application layer as well as the database layer.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Administrator for the installation, configuration, performance, tuning and maintenance of ROR/PHP application servers on Linux platforms.
  • Troubleshoot application issues and support the application development cycle involved with application design, deploying code, and resolving any infrastructure problems.
  • Automation of cloud based deployments.
  • Monitoring production environment, tuning application servers to optimize performance, reinstalling all Middleware products during lease replacements, participating in production problem calls, stabilizing and improving performance.
  • Assist with day to day management of a Production web application environment based on Linux and open source technologies.
  • Use best practices to setup and maintain a secure computing environment.

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Experience managing production deployments.
  • Experience in managing Continuous Integration/Continuous Development environments.
  • 3+ years of experience in Apache, PHP and ROR environments.
  • Has worked with provisioning tools like Chef, Puppet or similar.
  • Proven experience with Linux system administration.
  • Proven experience developing and managing high-bandwidth video and other multi-media environments.
  • Proven experience in deploying and managing applications on the cloud (AWS or similar).
  • 3+ years of experience with supporting Linux in a production web environment.
  • Be a technical “Jack of all trades”.
  • Excellent communication, problem solving and organizational skills.
  • BA/BS or equivalent experience.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, early-stage company.
