JTEKT North America Corporation Seamlessly Migrates to New Cloud-based LMS, Preserves Existing Content While Enabling Customization and Analytics
JTEKT North America Corporation, part of the globally recognized JTEKT Corporation, is a leading manufacturer of automotive systems & components, bearings, machine tools, and mechatronics. Employing over 5,000 dedicated associates across 23 facilities, including 12 manufacturing sites, 3 technical centers, and 5 distribution centers, the corporation generates a substantial annual revenue of $4.6 billion.
Challenge
As JTEKT sought to enhance its Learning Management System (LMS) capabilities, they were confronted with a series of challenges:
- Their existing LMS was rigid, failing to evolve in sync with advancements in technology, thus limiting its functionality and user engagement. The system’s inflexibility inhibited the implementation of modern learning tools, negatively impacting the overall efficiency of the training process.
- A significant portion of JTEKT’s workforce, around 80%, did not have email addresses. This created a significant barrier for communication and dissemination of learning materials and updates, necessitating alternative notification mechanisms that could reach these employees effectively.
- Their existing LMS did not provide the necessary reporting to facilitate informed business decisions. The lack of comprehensive analytics limited their ability to evaluate training effectiveness, identify gaps, and plan future learning initiatives accurately.
- JTEKT faced the daunting task of migrating non-standard content into its new LMS. This demanded a system capable of handling diverse formats and preserving the integrity of the learning materials during the migration process.
- Lastly, JTEKT required the ability to create versions of courses without having to start from scratch, a feature lacking in their existing system. This necessity for efficient course revision and update mechanisms was key to ensuring the continuous improvement and relevance of their learning content.
